The beginning
A builder shaped by starting over.
Before Hays Homes, Jay Hays was a New Orleans Realtor and rental property owner who had already fallen in love with renovation.
Hurricane Katrina flooded his own home and every rental property he owned. Rebuilding from the studs gave Jay an education that could not be learned from a set of plans alone. He saw what belongs behind the walls, what fails, and what lasting work requires.
A move to Lafayette became a new beginning. After years of renovation work, Jay earned his contractor’s license in 2012 and built Hays Homes around a simple standard: understand the client, stay close to the work, and finish every home with pride.
